July - Gap Yah
Share
July was busy. I had so much going on, from friends visiting in Europe to entering a 50km trail run in the Swiss Alps. This gave me plenty of opportunities to film content but left less time to drive sales.
That's one thing I've really noticed: the importance of striking a balance between engaging with my community of followers, filming interesting content, developing new products, and everything else life throws at you.
Here are my core lessons from July:
- Film everything and keep up-skilling on editing software.
- Always have high-quality ads running.
- Continuously read and learn about advertising.
- Look at what other businesses do for inspiration, but always do your own thing.
- Keep a pipeline of fresh products coming.
- Have a strong brand voice.
- B2B is cool.
Getting used to filming everything takes a bit of time. I actually took a tumble this week trying to follow this principle, and it was the most embarrassing thing. I may or may not make a video containing the incident.
High-quality ads are super important. I'm learning to keep making them and keep improving them. Customer reviews in our ads have been particularly powerful, and I think the recent surge in sales is due to this. If you're keen to gain insight into the mind of a customer, give any of David Ogilvy's work a read. Here is a link to buy it from the best book shop in Bath if not the world, Mr Bs Emporium https://mrbsemporium.com/shop/books/ogilvy-on-advertising/
A fresh pipeline of products is essential. I've doubled down on this principle by moving up a product release, so we should have two new products this month.
The final point about B2B has always been on the roadmap, but I brought it forward given how popular our cap has been and the 5-star reviews on its quality. Having sold 60% of the stock, I felt confident enough to pitch us as a supplier of high-quality merchandise to various businesses. We've got some very exciting conversations bubbling away. This is an area I really enjoy, so if you happen to be a business decision-maker looking for high-quality branded merch, reach out—I'd love to collaborate!
With all the travel over (I'm currently sitting on a train heading north to see Oasis on Friday), I can focus purely on launching the new products and building some excitement.
As always, if you enjoy our posts, please keep commenting, liking, and sharing them. We get direct sales from this kind of activity, so you're literally helping us keep the lights on!
Much Love,
Bibs
